John Francis Pinto MD., 72, of Las Vegas, passed away Monday, July 30, 2018, at home, with his family by his side, after a short battle with Alzheimer’s disease and kidney failure. He was born in Akron, Ohio, to the late Leonard and Mary Theresa Pinto. John was a respected and well-loved Pulmonary and Sleep Specialist who practiced in Las Vegas and Henderson since 1987. John received his medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency at St. Louis University Medical Center in Missouri. He then entered the U.S. Army Medical Corps and was assigned to the 97th General Hospital, Frankfurt, Germany, where he met and married an Army Nurse, Deena, who was his love and business partner for life. He attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and served as Pulmonary Consultant to the Commanding General 7th Medical Command in Germany. Together, John and Deena explored the world while living in exciting places like Germany and Saudi Arabia and raising their family of three wonderful sons. John loved medicine and being a doctor and he showed this in his caring for his patients. John was also very active in the Boy Scouts of America and loved fly fishing, hiking, biking and camping. He was an Eagle Scout and troop leader and helped guide his sons and many other boys to achieve this high honor. He is survived by his loving wife, of 42 years, Deena; sons, Christophe­r, David and Kevin; brothers, Joseph Pinto of Akron, Ohio, and Dr. James Pinto and his wife, Jodi, of Barstow, California; sister-in-law, Gail Randle of Staunton, Virginia; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial celebratio­n of life will be held at a later date.
