■ Red Sox 4, Yankees 1 — At Boston, Mitch Moreland and J.D. Martinez homered off rookie starter Chance Adams (0-1) to back Nathan Eovaldi (5-4), who pitched eight shutout innings in dealing New York its fourth loss in a row.

■ Indians 3, Angels 0 — At Cleveland, Corey Kluber (14-6) pitched a three-hit shutout with seven strikeouts, and Leonys Martin broke up a no-hit bid by Felix Pena (1-3) in the sixth with his second home run in his three games with Cleveland.

■ Athletics 2, Tigers 1 — At Oakland, Calif., Khris Davis hit his 30th home run of the season and ninth since the All-Star break to back Edwin Jackson (3-2), who held Detroit to one unearned run over 6⅓ innings, as Oakland won its fifth in a row.

■ White Sox 2, Rays 1 — At St. Petersburg, Fla., Tim Anderson doubled leading off the ninth and scored from second when Matt Duffy committed a throwing error on Leury Garcia’s two-strike bunt as Chicago won its third straight.
