LAS VEGAS 51s REPORT

Four-run sixth gives 51s victory

Bryce Brentz singled home a pair of runs to highlight a go-ahead, fourrun sixth inning Saturday as the Las Vegas 51s beat the Iowa Cubs 9-6 in a Pacific Coast League game at Principal Park in Des Moines, Iowa.

After the 51s (55-57) tied the game at 6-6 on a bases-loaded passed ball, Brentz singled to the right side of the infield, just out of the range of Iowa second baseman Stephen Bruno, to bring home Cody Asche and Ty Kelly. Peter Alonso scored to put Las Vegas up 9-6 when Cubs left fielder Mark Zagunis misplayed a fly ball off the bat of Dominic Smith.

Kelly and Colton Plaia each had two hits for Las Vegas.

Bruno finished with three hits for the Cubs (41-70).

Las Vegas starter Blake Taylor (2-0) gave up five runs in five innings but got the win. Gerson Bautista, the second of two relievers, notched his second save.
