Windstorm forces 51s-Aces suspension

A strong windstorm and subsequent rain forced the Las Vegas 51s to suspend their Pacific Coast League game with the Reno Aces in the fifth inning Saturday night at Cashman Field.

The 51s (58-59) were trailing 2-1 with the game just two outs from being official when the strong, swirling winds hit, forcing the teams off the field around 8:30 p.m.

The two teams will continue the game on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. and then play the regularly scheduled game, which will be seven innings, approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.

Las Vegas had managed just two hits off Reno starter Neftali Feliz, scoring in the second inning on a double by Jose Lobaton.

Las Vegas starter Scott Copeland threw five innings and gave up two runs, both in the fourth inning. The Aces (61-56) scored on Rey Fuentes’ groundout and a single by Juniel Querecuto.
