Mary Lou Gardner passed from her earthly home on August 13, 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born on August 16, 1925 in Deseret, Utah, to John Ervin Nielson and Alta Cleon Cahoon Nielson. Mary Lou was married to Ira Leon Gardner on August 4, 1945 after just 10 days of dating and have been together continuous­ly for 73 years. They were later sealed for time and all eternity on September 20, 1980 in the St. George Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Mary Lou held various callings in the church and attended the Las Vegas Temple opening in 1989. She lived the gospel of Jesus Christ throughout her life. She was a fine and humble woman who never looked for the spotlight and was steadfast in her integrity and love for family and friends. After Mary Lou and Ira's marriage in 1945 they lived in various places in Utah and then finally settled in Las Vegas in 1953 and Las Vegas has been their home ever since. Marylou was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sarah Ann Burns; two brothers, Ervin C Nielson and Gale Nielson; four sisters, Donna Cleon Henderson, Barbara Bell, Delone Evans and baby Nielson. Mary Lou is survived by her husband, Ira Leon Gardner; two daughters, Connie Lawrence and Donna Johnson both of Texas; one son, Ira John Gardner (Deanna) of Las Vegas; one sister Rae Lee of Utah; 16 grandchild­ren; and 32 greatgrand­children. A celebratio­n of life will be held on a future date. No Services Scheduled.
