MARJORIE SHERMAN

Marjorie Ruth (nee McLaughlin) Sherman, 82, of Las Vegas, passed away Sunday, August 12, 2018, after a short illness with cancer. Marge was born January 10, 1936, in Lewistown, Montana, to Virgil Lee and Ruth Lehman McLaughlin. She grew up in Lewistown and graduated from Fergus County High School in 1953. She married James Sherman, June 2, 1954, later divorcing. In the early 1960’s, they moved to Las Vegas. Along with being a mother, she also sold cosmetics. She got her real estate license in the 1970’s. Eventually, she became a sales associate for high-end furniture organizations. She had a knack for providing the right furniture to fit the buyer’s needs. Marge was an avid reader with many interests and loved going to the movies. Traveling was a highlight. She recently traveled to Ireland with her sister, Laurie, to explore the magnificent country and the family roots. With Linda and Dale, they traveled throughout the western United States, the ghost towns of Montana with brother, Bob, and of course, the expeditions to Alaska led by her son, Don. She was preceded in death by her father, Lee McLaughlin; mother, Ruth (Vern) Edwards; and sister, Lauralee Ann Lindeland. Marge is survived by her three sons, Steven (Elena) of Las Vegas, Robert of Las Vegas, and Donald (Cindy) of Wrangell, Alaska; three grandchildren, Dasan, Bobby and Alyssa; siblings, Terry (Barbara) McLaughlin of Bozeman, Montana, Linda (Dale) Johnson of North Las Vegas, and Bob Edwards (Randy Larsen) of Henderson; numerous other relatives; and best friends, Maxine (Roland) Brown and Dion and Tara Thomas. A big heartfelt thank you to the doctors and staff of St. Rose Dominican San Martin and Dr. Carlos Araujo and the staff at San Martin Oncology for their care and compassion. At Marge’s request, there will be no formal services or funeral. In lieu of flowers, please kindly send a donation to your local American Cancer Society.
