France, Chihuahuas put their bite on 51s
Ty France singled in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning as the El Paso Chihuahuas beat the Las Vegas 51s 4-3 in a Pacific Coast League game Saturday at Southwest University Park in El Paso, Texas.
The loss was the third straight for Las Vegas (61-64).
France’s two-out single drove home Luis Urias who tripled.
The 51s threatened in the ninth but Peter Alonso struck out with the bases loaded.
Bryce Brentz clubbed a two-run home run for Las Vegas in the first inning, but Francisco Mejia tied it for the Chihuahuas (72-53) in the bottom of the inning with a two-run shot.
France’s first RBI hit, a double, gave El Paso its first lead in the third.
The 51s’ Jose Lobaton countered in the fifth with a solo homer.
