George “Rick” Frederick Pinney, Jr., 64, passed peacefully with loved ones by his side in Las Vegas, August 8, 2018, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Sherman, TX, he was the son of the late Grace “Darlene” (Weideman) and George Frederick Pinney, Sr. As the son of an air force pilot, Rick spent his childhood living all over the world, settling in Phoenix, AZ in 1968. Rick later made his way to Las Vegas, where he met and began his life with Sue and became a well-respected member of the pool industry, creating numerous successful pool businesses. Rick and Sue enjoyed a shared passion for traveling and spending time with their children, grandchild­ren, family, friends and two Border Collies. He was predecease­d by his brother, John. Rick is survived by Sue, his beloved wife, of 28 years; his children, Jason (Tammy), Ryan (Meagan), sons of Frankie Mae Richards and Jake (Rayna), son of Rick and Sue; his grandchild­ren, Kobe, Tatum, Kassian, Nixon and Addison (due November); his siblings, Kathy (Craig) Sanford, Tom (Tina) Pinney and Carol (Bob) Allison; several nieces; nephews; extended family; and dear friends. Celebratio­n of Rick’s life will be from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, September 8, at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, 3700 W. Flamingo Road, Las Vegas, NV 89103 (Pavilion entrance, proceed to Florist for directions). In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Wounded Warrior Project or your local animal shelter, in honor of Rick.
