State 31 — At Columbus, Ohio, Dwayne Haskins Jr. was 22 of 30 passing for 313 yards and five touchdowns, setting program records for the Buckeyes (1-0) for yards and TDs for a first-time starting quarterbac­k. Mike Weber ran for 186 yards and three TDs for Ohio State. Conor Blount threw for 169 yards and two TDs for the Beavers (0-1) and was sacked five times in the first half.

No. 10 Penn State 45, Appalachia­n State 38, OT

— At State College, Pa., Miles Sanders ran for 91 yards and two touchdowns, including the go-ahead score in overtime, for the Nittany Lions (1-0), and cornerback Amani Oruwariye then intercepte­d Zac Thomas in the end zone. Thomas threw for 270 yards and two TDs and ran for a score for the Mountainee­rs (0-1).

■ Illinois 31, Kent State 24 —

At Champaign, Ill., A.J. Bush passed for 190 yards and ran for 139 yards for the Illini (1-0), who won their 21st straight home opener. Woody Barrett threw for 270 yards and two TDs for the Golden Flashes (01) but was picked off by linebacker Del’Shawn Phillips in the end zone inside the final three minutes.

■ Rutgers 35, Texas State

7— At Piscataway, N.J., Raheem Blackshear had seven catches for 56 yards and a touchdown and ran for 62 yards and a TD, and Jonathan Hilliman ran for two scores for the Scarlet Knights (10). The Bobcats (0-1) intercepte­d freshman Art Sitkowski three times, with cornerback Kordell Rodgers returning the second 51 yards for a TD.

■ Iowa 33, Northern Illinois 7

— At Iowa City, Iowa, Kirk Ferenz passed mentor Hayden Fry as the winningest coach of the Hawkeyes (1-0) with his 144th win in his 20th season. Fry was 143-89-6 in 20 years. The Huskies (0-1) had won four of their past five against Power Five teams.

■ Indiana 38, Florida

Internatio­nal 28 — At Miami, Peyton Ramsey threw for 156 yards and three touchdowns for the Hoosiers (1-0), who were without suspended top rusher Morgan Ellison. Anthony Jones ran for 88 yards and two TDs for the Panthers (0-1).

■ Akron at Nebraska, ppd.

— At Lincoln, Neb., severe thundersto­rms prompted the game to be postponed after a three-hour delay, with informatio­n regarding a possible makeup date yet to be provided.
