American League
■ Mariners 8, Athletics 7 — At Oakland, Calif., James Paxton (11-5) returned from the disabled list to strike out 10 batters over five innings, Ben Gamel hit a two-run double, and Seattle held off Oakland.
■ Astros 7, Angels 3 — At Houston, Tyler White hit a go-ahead two-run double in a five-run eighth inning, Alex Bregman homered and Houston beat Los Angeles. Since the All-Star break, White has 16 extra-base hits with 26 RBIs.
■ Yankees 2, Tigers 1 — At New York, Masahiro Tanaka (10-5) pitched seven strong innings for his first win since July, rookie Gleyber Torres hit a two-run homer and New York won for the 11th time in 15 games.
■ Red Sox 6, White Sox 1 — At Chicago, Eduardo Rodriguez (12-3) struck out 12 in 5⅔ innings in his return from an ankle injury, leading Boston to its fourth win in five games.
■ Rays 5, Indians 3 — At Cleveland, Blake Snell (17-5) moved into a tie for the major league lead with his 17th win as Tampa Bay beat Cleveland. Snell is 5-0 in his last six starts.
■ Rangers 7, Twins 4 — At Arlington, Texas, Adrian Beltre hit his 470th career homer after 23-year-old sluggers Nomar Mazara and Ronald Guzman went deep, helping Texas stop a five-game losing streak.
■ Royals 5, Orioles 4 — At Kansas City, Mo., Whit Merrifield hit a two-run homer with one out in the ninth inning, giving Kansas City a back-and-forth victory over Baltimore.
National League
■ Dodgers 3, Diamondbacks 2 — At Los Angeles, Matt Kemp slugged a goahead, two-strike, three-run homer in the eighth inning, lifting Los Angeles into tie atop the NL West with Arizona.
■ Mets 2, Giants 1, 11 innings — At San Francisco, Steven Matz struck out a career-high 11 batters and New York won for the sixth time in its last seven games at AT&T Park. Todd Frazier drove in Wilmer Flores on a sacrifice fly in the 11th inning.
■ Nationals 5, Brewers 4 — At Washington, Juan Soto’s two-run single highlighted a four-run eighth inning and Washington rallied to snap Milwaukee’s three-game winning streak.
■ Rockies 4, Padres 2 — At San Diego, D.J. LeMahieu homered and Jon Gray (11-7) pitched six solid innings as Colorado beat San Diego to snap the Padres’ season-high four-game winning streak.
■ Braves 5, Pirates 3 — At Atlanta, Freddie Freeman hit a tiebreaking, RBI single in the four-run eighth inning and NL East-leading Atlanta rallied to snap a three-game skid and beat Pittsburgh.
■ Reds 4, Cardinals 0 — At St. Louis, Luis Castillo (8-11) and two relievers combined on a two-hitter to help Cincinnati snap a three-game losing streak. St. Louis lost for the second time in six games.

■ Marlins 6, Blue Jays 3 — At Miami, Martin Prado hit a bases-clearing double in his first game in three weeks, Wei-Yin Chen (6-9) pitched eight strong innings and Miami snapped a four-game skid.
