LAS VEGAS 51s REPORT

-

Sacramento’s big inning dooms 51s

Brock Stassi delivered an RBI double to highlight a five-run fifth inning as the Sacramento River Cats beat the Las Vegas 51s 7-3 in a Pacific Coast League game Saturday night at Cashman Field.

Christian Colon hit a three-run homer in the fourth to put Las Vegas (69-69) up 3-1, but starter Scott Copeland ran into trouble in the fifth, which was compounded by a fielding error by left fielder Dominic Smith.

Copeland had two outs and a runner on first before a walk, a single, Smith’s error, another single and Stassi’s double combined to plate five runs for the River Cats (5484). Copeland (3-3) lasted five innings, giving up six runs on seven hits, though just two of the runs were earned.

The 51s totaled eight hits but went 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.

Peter Alonso had two doubles for Las Vegas while Patrick Kivlehan and Jose Lobaton chipped in with two hits apiece.
