Atlantic 14 — At Norman, Okla., Marquise Brown had six catches for 133 yards and a touchdown for the Sooners (1-0), who led 42-0 at halftime. Devin Singletary, one of the nation’s top running backs last season, ran for 69 yards on 18 carries for the Owls (0-1).

No. 16 Texas Christian 55,

Southern 7 — At Fort Worth, Texas, Shawn Robinson threw for 182 yards and three touchdowns and had TD runs of 36 and 9 yards while playing only the first half for the Horned Frogs (1-0). The Jaguars (0-1) gave up TDs on TCU’s first six drives.

Maryland 34, No. 23 Texas

29— At Landover, Md., freshman Jeshaun Jones ran for a touchdown, threw for one and caught a 65-yard TD pass for the Terrapins (1-0), who forced three turnovers in the final 6:09 and scored the last 10 points. The Longhorns (0-1) blew a 24-7 lead.

Kansas State 27, South

Dakota 24 — At Manhattan, Kan., Isaiah Zuber scored two fourthquar­ter touchdowns, one on an 85yard kick return and the other on a 10-yard reception, for the Wildcats (1-0). Austin Simmons was 24 of 56 passing for 257 yards and a TD for the Coyotes (0-1), who saw Mason Lorber miss a tying 51-yard fieldgoal try as time expired.

■ Mississipp­i 47, Texas Tech

27 — At Houston, Jordan Ta’amu threw for 336 yards and two touchdowns, and Scottie Phillips ran for 204 yards and two TDs for the Rebels (1-0). Freshman Alan Bowman threw for 273 yards and a TD after taking over late in the first quarter for injured McLane Carter for the Red Raiders (0-1). ■

Baylor 55, Abilene Christian

27— At Waco, Texas, John Lovett ran for 115 yards and three touchdowns for the Bears (1-0), who totaled 606 yards of offense and halted an eight-game home losing streak. California transfer Bill McCrary ran for 141 yards and a TD for the Wildcats (0-1).

Nicholls State 26, Kansas

23, OT — At Lawrence, Kan., Chase Fourcade ran for a 4-yard touchdown after the Colonels (1-0) held the Jayhawks (0-1) to a field goal in overtime. Kendall Bussey ran for 123 yards, including a 40-yard TD, for Nicholls State.

South Dakota State at Iowa

State, cld. — At Ames, Iowa, severe thundersto­rms prompted the game to be canceled, with no immediate plans for rescheduli­ng.
