FRANK PEARCE

-

Frank L. Pearce, 72, passed peacefully, September 11, 2018, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with ALS and a life well lived. He handled his illness with unbelievable strength, humor and grace to the very end. We are so very proud of him. He was born July 17, 1946 in Grinnell, Iowa to George and Lauretta Pearce. Soon the family moved to Southern California where Frank grew up playing sports and riding his bike through the hills with his two younger brothers. In 1962 they relocated to Germany for his father’s work. Frank graduated from Kaiserslautern American High School in 1964. After they returned to California, he attended Long Beach City College and graduated from California State University, Long Beach. He made life-long friends as a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He went on to receive his teaching credential at UNLV, married Linda Boje, and they welcomed two sons. His career eventually led him to spend 26 years in local government, having served as Chief of Audit and Compliance for the City of Las Vegas and Customer Service Supervisor and Chief of Security for the Clark County Water Reclamation District. Frank loved baseball, fishing and his cabin in the woods, but he loved spending time with his family the most. He was preceded in death by his father, George F. Pearce; brother, George A. Pearce; and granddaughter, Hailey Pearce. He leaves behind his loving wife, of twenty years, Janelle; sons Matthew and Jeffrey Pearce (Meranda); step-children, Angela Hemphill (Jason) and Ryan Kraft (Natasha); grandchildren, Kylee and Kaytie Pearce, Aric and Ashley Kraft, and Taylor and Morgan Hemphill, all of Las Vegas, NV; his mother, Lauretta Pearce; brother, Steven Pearce (Linda); niece, Katharine Pearce; nephew, John Pearce (Christina) all of Southern California; and a large extended family. He will be missed by many. A celebration of Frank’s life will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 30, in the Chapel at Canyon Ridge Christian Church, 6200 W. Lone Mountain Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89130. In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank’s name can be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice or the Las Vegas Chapter of the ALS Association.
