No. 14 Michigan 20, Northweste­rn 17 —

At Evanston, Ill., Karan Higdon ran for 115 yards and two touchdowns, including a go-ahead 5-yard score with 4:06 left, for the Wolverines (4-1, 2-0), who overcame a 17-0 deficit. The Wildcats (1-3, 1-1) mustered 97 yards of offense over the final three quarters and absorbed six sacks overall.

No. 21 Michigan State 31, Central Michigan 20 —

At East Lansing, Mich., Brian Lewerke threw for 185 yards and ran for two firsthalf touchdowns for the Spartans (3-1), who held the Chippewas (1-4) to 5 yards rushing in the opening 30 minutes and led 17-3 at intermissi­on. CMU running back Jonathan Ward threw a 29-yard TD pass to quarterbac­k Tony Poljan.

■ At Lincoln, Neb., David Blough threw for 328 yards and a touchdown and ran for a score for the Boilermake­rs (2-3, 1-1), who dealt the Cornhusker­s (0-4, 0-2) their program-record eighth loss in a row and seventh straight home setback. Devine Ozigbo ran for 170 yards for Nebraska, which amassed 582 yards of offense and 30 first downs but was called for five personal fouls and 11 total penalties for 136 yards.

At Piscataway, N.J., Peyton Ramsey threw for 288 yards and a touchdown and ran for another score for the Hoosiers (3-1, 1-1), who scored on their first four possession­s. Justin Davidovicz kicked a 52-yard field goal to bring the Scarlet Knights (1-4, 0-2) within seven points with 3:52 left.
