■ Yankees 8, Red Sox 5 — At Boston, Gleyber Torres and Giancarlo Stanton connected as New York broke the major league record for home runs in a season and reached 100 wins. Torres’ two-run drive was the Yankees’ 265th of the year.
■ Athletics 5, Angels 2 — At Anaheim, Calif., Khris Davis hit his major league-leading 48th homer and Oakland locked up its winningest season in 16 years.
■ Astros 4, Orioles 3, Game 1 — At Baltimore, Justin Verlander looked playoff-ready in a 10-strikeout performance, Carlos Correa homered and hit a tiebreaking RBI double in the ninth inning and Houston beat Baltimore in the opener of a doubleheader.
■ Astros 5, Orioles 2, Game 2 — At Baltimore, Myles Straw hit his first big league homer, Brian McCann and Jake Marisnick also went deep and Houston swept its doubleheader against Baltimore.
■ Royals 9, Indians 4 — At Kansas City, Mo., Adalberto Mondesi hit a tiebreaking, three-run homer to lift Kansas over Cleveland. Corey Kluber gave up three runs in five innings in his final regular season start for the Indians.
■ Mariners 4, Rangers 1 — At Seattle, Dee Gordon drove in the go-ahead run with a triple in the seventh inning and James Paxton struck out nine to go over 200 for the season as Seattle beat Texas.
■ Rays 4, Blue Jays 3 — At St. Petersburg, Fla., C.J. Cron and Austin Meadows homered and Tampa Bay beat Toronto, though Blake Snell failed to win his 10th straight start.
■ Twins 8, White Sox 3 — At Minneapolis, Joe Mauer reached base three times and Kyle Gibson (10-13) capped a season of improvement with six quality innings in Minnesota’s fifth straight victory.
