No. 4 Clemson 63, Wake Forest 3 —

At Winston-Salem, N.C., Travis Etienne ran for 167 yards and three touchdowns for the Tigers (6-0, 3-0), who ran for 471 yards in their most productive rushing performanc­e since 1981. Lyn-J Dixon ran for 163 yards, with TDs of 65 and 52 yards, and Adam Choice had a 64-yard TD run en route to 128 yards. The Demon Deacons (3-3, 0-2) amassed minus-2 yards rushing in the first half.

No. 6 Notre Dame 45, No. 24 Virginia Tech 23 —

At Blacksburg, Va., Dexter Williams ran for 178 yards and three touchdowns, including a 97-yarder, on 17 carries for the Fighting Irish (6-0). They had minus-5 yards rushing and faced a second-and-12 from their 3 in the third quarter before Williams’ long run put them up 24-16. Ryan Willis threw for 309 yards and two TDs for the Hokies (3-2).

No. 17 Miami 28, Florida State 27 —

At Miami Gardens, Fla., N’Kosi Perry threw for 204 yards and four touchdowns for the Hurricanes (5-1, 2-0), who overcame a 27-7 second-half deficit. Brevin Jordan’s 41-yard TD catch with 12 minutes left put Miami ahead to stay. D.J. Matthews returned a third-quarter punt 74 yards for a TD for the Seminoles (3-3, 1-3), who hadn’t lost in Miami since 2004.

No. 23 North Carolina State 28, Boston College 23 —

At Raleigh, N.C., Reggie Gallaspy ran for 104 and two touchdowns for the Wolfpack (5-0, 2-0), who overcame four turnovers, a blocked field goal and a blocked punt returned for a TD. The Eagles (4-2, 1-1) trailed 28-3 with 2:57 left in the third quarter. ■

Pittsburgh 44, Syracuse 37, OT—

At Pittsburgh, Darrin Hall ran for 107 yards and two touchdowns, including a 3-yarder in overtime, for the Panthers (3-3, 2-1), who iced the win when cornerback Therran Coleman intercepte­d Eric Dungey in the end zone on the first OT snap by the Orange (4-2, 1-2). Qadree Ollison ran for 192 yards and a TD for Pitt.
