At Win­ston-Salem, N.C., Travis Eti­enne ran for 167 yards and three touch­downs for the Tigers (6-0, 3-0), who ran for 471 yards in their most pro­duc­tive rush­ing per­for­mance since 1981. Lyn-J Dixon ran for 163 yards, with TDs of 65 and 52 yards, and Adam Choice had a 64-yard TD run en route to 128 yards. The De­mon Dea­cons (3-3, 0-2) amassed mi­nus-2 yards rush­ing in the first half.

No. 6 Notre Dame 45, No. 24 Vir­ginia Tech 23 —

At Blacksburg, Va., Dex­ter Williams ran for 178 yards and three touch­downs, in­clud­ing a 97-yarder, on 17 car­ries for the Fight­ing Ir­ish (6-0). They had mi­nus-5 yards rush­ing and faced a sec­ond-and-12 from their 3 in the third quar­ter be­fore Williams’ long run put them up 24-16. Ryan Willis threw for 309 yards and two TDs for the Hok­ies (3-2).

No. 17 Mi­ami 28, Flor­ida State 27 —

At Mi­ami Gar­dens, Fla., N’Kosi Perry threw for 204 yards and four touch­downs for the Hur­ri­canes (5-1, 2-0), who over­came a 27-7 sec­ond-half deficit. Brevin Jor­dan’s 41-yard TD catch with 12 min­utes left put Mi­ami ahead to stay. D.J. Matthews re­turned a third-quar­ter punt 74 yards for a TD for the Semi­noles (3-3, 1-3), who hadn’t lost in Mi­ami since 2004.

No. 23 North Carolina State 28, Bos­ton Col­lege 23 —

At Raleigh, N.C., Reg­gie Gal­laspy ran for 104 and two touch­downs for the Wolf­pack (5-0, 2-0), who over­came four turnovers, a blocked field goal and a blocked punt re­turned for a TD. The Ea­gles (4-2, 1-1) trailed 28-3 with 2:57 left in the third quar­ter. ■

Pitts­burgh 44, Syra­cuse 37, OT—

At Pitts­burgh, Dar­rin Hall ran for 107 yards and two touch­downs, in­clud­ing a 3-yarder in over­time, for the Pan­thers (3-3, 2-1), who iced the win when cor­ner­back Ther­ran Cole­man in­ter­cepted Eric Dungey in the end zone on the first OT snap by the Or­ange (4-2, 1-2). Qadree Ol­li­son ran for 192 yards and a TD for Pitt.
