Miami defensive end won’t play vs. Bengals

-

Dolphins defensive end Cameron Wake has been ruled out of Sunday’s game at Cincinnati because of a knee injury.

Wake sat out practice this week and didn’t travel with the team Saturday. The game will be the first he has missed since 2016.

Andre Branch, listed behind Wake on the depth chart, is questionable with a knee injury that forced him to miss last week’s game. If Branch doesn’t play, Charles Harris will likely make his third career start.

■ Cowboys: Four-time Pro Bowl center Travis Frederick was placed on the non-football illness list because of a nerve condition that has kept him from playing this season.

Dallas also put receiver Terrance Williams on injured reserve because of a foot injury.

Those moves cleared two spots on the active roster before Sunday’s game at Houston. One will be filled by defensive lineman David Irving in his return from a fourgame suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy, but the team said he didn’t make the trip and wouldn’t play against the Texans.

Frederick was diagnosed during the preseason with Guillain-Barre syndrome. The Cowboys initially kept him on the active roster, but now he will miss at least eight more

weeks. He could possible return the final month of the regular season.

■ Chargers:

Defensive tackle Corey Liuget was activated after serving a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.

He is expected to play Sunday when the Chargers host Oakland.

■ Broncos: Punter Colby Wadman was promoted from the practice squad after Denver put scuffling punter Marquette King on injured reserve with a thigh injury.

■ Bills: Buffalo promoted safety Dean Marlowe from its practice squad to shore up a banged-up secondary for its game against the Titans.

Marlowe’s addition comes with starting safety Micah Hyde (groin) and backup Rafael Bush (shoulder) listed as questionable to play Sunday.

■ Patriots: New England released defensive back Cyrus Jones, ending his second stint with the team.

A second-round pick by the Patriots in 2016, he was released at the end of training camp. New England re-signed him Sept. 19 with starting safety Patrick Chung recovering from a concussion.
