Matthew Graver Sher­wood, 57, of Las Ve­gas, un­ex­pect­edly passed away Sun­day Septem­ber 30, 2018. Matt was born in Mil­wau­kee, as the youngest of five. He grew up in Chicago, Aurora, Colo., and San Diego, Calif. He was proud to at­tend Mis­sion Bay Se­nior High in San Diego be­fore go­ing on to grad­u­ate with a de­gree in Pub­lic Re­la­tions at Cal­i­for­nia State Univer­sity in Bak­ers­field. In his broad­cast ca­reer, he cov­ered no­table events in­clud­ing Ok­la­homa City, Columbine, the OJ trial, and many more. Matt fre­quently spoke of the in­tense emo­tional im­pact he felt from cov­er­ing these events. He fin­ished his ca­reer work­ing as an ed­i­tor with his Chan­nel 8 KLAS-TV team. His life work was hon­ored when he was in­ducted into the Ne­vada Broad­cast­ers Hall of Fame in 2007. Out­side of work, Matt was found around the table with his friends and fel­low club mem­bers build­ing model air­planes and cars. Matt loved mod­el­ing and was ac­tive through­out the years as a club of­fi­cer. Matt was pre­ceded in death by his par­ents, El­iz­a­beth and Ed­win Sher­wood; and his sis­ters, Su­san Saari and Me­gan Sher­wood-Pol­lard. Matt will be lov­ingly re­mem­bered by his older broth­ers, Pa­trick and Michael; as well as his nieces and neph­ews, El­iz­a­beth and Ian Ramirez, Kevin, Keli and Max Sher­wood, Ki­ley and AJ Pol­lard, and Owen and Shan­non Sher­wood. A Cel­e­bra­tion of Life Ser­vice hon­or­ing Matt will be at 6 p.m. Tues­day Oc­to­ber 9, at the Palm East­ern Mor­tu­ary, at 7600 S. East­ern Ave, Las Ve­gas, NV 89123. In lieu of flow­ers, do­na­tions can be made at the Folded Flag Foun­da­tion.
