SEDRA BUTLER February 10, 1951–October 14, 2018
Sedra Lynn Butler left us Sunday, October 14, 2018, surrounded by family following a four-year battle with cancer. Born February 10, 1951, in Loves Park, Ill., to Lawrence “Red” Dobson and Phyllis (Coumbes) Rawlings, Sedra graduated from Timber Township High School in Glassford, Ill., and became a certified nursing assistant for a short time. In 1976, Sedra moved to Arizona, where she found her passion in cosmetology, eventually owning and operating a salon in a Tucson retirement home. It was in Tucson where she met and married Kevin Butler, her husband, of 32 years. Sedra enjoyed traveling, music, shopping, especially for treasures and collectibles, and striking up conversations with complete strangers. She was full of life, even during times of struggle. Her strength, wisdom, sense of humor and compassion for others will truly be missed. She was preceded in death by father, Red; and mother, Phyllis. To remember her, Sedra leaves behind her husband, Kevin; daughters, Seanza and Serena Butler, both of Henderson; brother, Steve (Loretta) Dobson of Loves Park; halfbrother, Larry (Andrea) Dobson of Appleton, Wis.; cousin and confidante, Natalie Clements of New Berlin, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to acknowledge Dr. Stephani Christensen and her outstanding, caring team at Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada. Sedra’s wish is to have a private ceremony followed by a second line in New Orleans, one of her favorite travel spots. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Sedra’s name to Make-a-Wish, the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choosing.
