■ No. 17 Penn State 30, No. 18 Iowa 24 — At State College, Pa., safety Nick Scott intercepte­d a pass to thwart the Hawkeyes (6-2, 3-2) at the Nittany Lions’ 2 with 3:18 left. Iowa scored two safeties and a touchdown pass by punter Colten Rastetter to defensive tackle Sam Brincks. Trace McSorley had a 51yard TD run for Penn State (6-2, 3-2).

■ Northweste­rn 31, No. 20 Wisconsin 17 — At Evanston,

Ill., Clayton Thorson ran for two touchdowns and threw for one for the Wildcats (5-3, 5-1), who held Jonathan Taylor, the nation’s top rusher, to 46 yards on 11 carries and recovered two of his fumbles. The Badgers (5-3, 3-2) were without quarterbac­k Alex Hornibrook (concussion) and several injured players on defense.

■ Michigan State 23, Purdue 13— At East Lansing, Mich., Rocky Lombardi threw for 318 yards and two touchdowns in his first start for the Spartans (5-3, 3-2), who were without starting quarterbac­k Brian Lewerke (shoulder). David Blough threw three intercepti­ons for the Boilermake­rs (4-4, 3-2).

■ Nebraska 45, Bethune Cookman 9 — At Lincoln, Neb., Stanley Morgan Jr. had seven catches for 82 yards and two touchdowns, and JD Spielman returned a punt 77 yards for a TD for the Cornhusker­s (26). Alfred Adams scored on a 5-yard run for the Wildcats (4-5) as time expired.

■ Maryland 63, Illinois 33 — At College Park, Md., Javon Leake ran for 140 yards and three touchdowns and scored on a 97-yard kickoff return for the Terrapins (5-3, 3-2), who totaled 712 yards of offense. Reggie Corbin ran for 155 yards and a TD for the Fighting Illini (3-5, 1-4), who failed to force a turnover for the first time in 22 games.
