Tringale tied with Landry for PGA lead

SILVIS, Illinois — Cameron Tringale and Andrew Landry topped the John Deere Classic leaderboar­d Saturday, with a half-dozen guys — including two with local ties — right behind them.

Winless on the PGA Tour, Tringale shot a 6-under-par 65 to match Landry at 16-under 197 at TPC Deere Run. Landry, who had a 67, won the Valero Texas Open last year for his lone tour title.

Bill Haas (64), the 2011 FedEx Cup champion, and Adam Schenk (66) were one stroke back. Haas tied for the day’s best round.

Las Vegas resident Nick Watney also had a 64 to join UNLV product and 2016 winner Ryan Moore (65), Dylan Frattelli (65) and Vaughn Taylor (66) at 14 under. Chris Stroud (66), Lucas Glover (69) and Roger Sloan (67) were 13 under.

■ Champions: At Akron, Ohio, Scott Parel overcame a seven-shot deficit at the start of the round with a 3-under 67 for a 5-under 205 total to take a one-stroke lead over Retief Goosen (75) in the Bridgeston­e Senior Players Championsh­ip. Steve Stricker (73), Kent Jones (70) and Brandt Jobe (73) were 3 under.

■ LPGA: At Sylvania, Ohio, Sei Young Kim had seven birdies en route to a 5-under 66 for a 16-under 197 total and a one-shot lead over Lexi Thompson (65) heading into the final round of the Marathon Classic. U.S. Women’s Open champion Jeongeun Lee6 (69) was third at 12 under.

■ European PGA: At North Berwick, Scotland, Bernd Wiesberger shot a 6-under 65 for a 20-under 193 total, the lowest 54-hole score at the Scottish Open and the lowest of his career. Erik Van Rooyen (67) was two strokes back.
