■ NO. 18 VILLANOVA 56, No. 1 Kansas 55: Jermaine Samuels hit a goahead 3-pointer with 20.5 seconds left for the Wildcats (9-2), who made the Jayhawks (9-2) the latest top-ranked team to fall this season.

Kansas had moved up one spot to become the fifth team to top the AP poll this season. It is the first time the poll has had five teams at No. 1 before New Year’s Day; the record for a season is seven in 1982-83.

Samuels scored 15 points and Collin Gillespie 12 for Villanova. Devon Dotson had 15 points and Udoka Azubuike 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Jayhawks.

■ NO. 2 GONZAGA 112, Eastern Washington 77: Filip Petrusev scored 24 points for the Bulldogs (13-1), who buried the Eagles (7-4) for their fifth straight win and 30th straight home victory.

Admon Gilder scored 22 points and Ryan Woolridge 15 for Gonzaga. Jacob Davison scored 17 points and Tyler Kidd 16 for Eastern Washington.

■ NO. 8 OREGON 84, Texas Southern 78: Payton Pritchard scored 16 of his 29 points in the final 4:44 for the Ducks (102), who paid back the Tigers (3-8) for a loss last season.

Chris Baldwin scored 27 points and Tyrik Armstrong 21 for Texas Southern. The lead changed hands five times in the final eight minutes.

■ NO. 11 MEMPHIS 77, Jackson State 49: Precious Achiuwa scored 20 points for Memphis (10-1), which shot 55 percent and forced Jackson State (3-9) into 25 turnovers.

D.J. Jeffries scored 13 points for Memphis, which committed 28 turnovers. Tristan Jarrett led Jackson State with 20 points.

■ NO. 12 AUBURN 74, Lehigh 51: Austin Wiley had 14 points and 15 rebounds for the Tigers (11-0), who won for the 23rd time in 24 games and dealt the Mountain Hawks (3-8) their sixth loss in a row.

J’Von McCormick scored 18 points for Auburn, which led 27-20 at halftime. Jordan Cohen led Lehigh with 18 points.

■ Colorado 78, No. 13 Dayton 76: At Chicago, D’Shawn Schwartz hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer for the Buffaloes (10-2), who overcame a 14-point deficit to edge the Flyers (9-2).

McKinley Wright IV scored 29 points and Schwartz for Colorado. Jalen Crutcher scored 19 points and Obi Toppin 17 for Dayton.

■ NO. 14 MICHIGAN 86, Presbyteri­an 44: Eli Brooks scored 16 points for the Wolverines (9-3), who buried the Blue

Hose (2-10) but lost leading scorer Isaiah Livers to an apparent left knee injury.

Livers has averaged 14.6 points per game this season. Jon Teske scored 15 points for Michigan. Owen McCormack led Presbyteri­an with 10 points.

■ NO. 15 MICHIGAN STATE 101, Eastern Michigan 48: Cassius Winston had 21 points and seven assists for the Spartans (9-3), who held the Eagles (9-2) to 19-percent shooting in the first half.

Foster Loyer had 13 points for Michigan State, which had five double-figure scorers. Eastern Michigan had no doublefigu­re scorers.

■ St. John’s 70, No. 16 Arizona 67:

At San Francisco, Nick Rutherford hit the go-ahead basket with 1:03 left for the Red Storm (11-2), who topped the Wildcats (10-3) in the Al Attles Classic for their seventh win in a row.

■ NO. 17 Butler 70, Purdue 61: At Indianapol­is, Bryce Golden scored 14 points for the Bulldogs (11-1), who held the Boilermake­rs (7-5) to 33.3-percent shooting in the Crossroads Classic..

■ No. 19 Florida State 66, South Florida 60: At Sunrise, Fla., RaiQuay Gray had 11 points and seven rebounds for the Seminoles (10-2), who forced the Bulls (6-6) into 24 turnovers in the Orange Bowl Classic.

■ NO. 21 TENNESSEE 75, Jacksonvil­le State 53: Jordan Bowden scored 19 points for the Volunteers (8-3), who downed the Gamecocks (4-8) to give coach Rick Barnes his 700th win.

■ NO. 24 TEXAS TECH 68, TexasRio Grande Valley 58: Jahmi’us Ramsey scored 15 points for the Red Raiders (8-3), who held off the Vaqueros (4-8) for their 53rd straight home nonconfere­nce win.

■ No. 25 West Virginia 75, YOUNGSTOWN STATE 64: Oscar Tshiebwe had 19 points for the Mountainee­rs (10-1), who scored the final eight points to upened the Penguins (7-6).

MOUNTAIN WEST

■ No. 20 San Diego State 80, Utah 52: At Los Angeles, Malachi Flynn scored 16 points for the Aztecs (12-0), who held the Utes (9-3) to 31.2-percent shooting in the Hall of Fame Classic.

San Diego State joined Auburn, Duquesne and Liberty as the nation’s remaining unbeaten teams. Timmy Allen led Utah with 21 points.

■ Colorado State 111, TULSA 104, 3OT: Isaiah Stevens hit a go-ahead 3-pointer and totaled 26 points for the Rams (8-6), who held the Golden Hurricane (8-4) scoreless over the final 2:53.

Kendle Moore had 23 points, David Roddy 17 points and 11 rebounds and Nico Carvacho 15 points and 18 rebounds for Colorado State. Jeriah Horne scored 28 points for Tulsa.

■ Utah State 65, Florida 62: At Sunrise, Fla., Sam Merrill scored 21 points for the Aggies (12-2), who held the Gators (7-4) without a field goal for six minutes down the stretch in the Orange Bowl Classic.

■ Wyoming 72, DENVER 66, OT: Hunter Maldonado had 20 points and nine rebounds for the Cowboys (4-9), who didn’t trail the Pioneers (4-10) in overtime.

Jake Hendricks scored 19 points for Wyoming. Jase Thompson had 24 points and reserve David Nzekwesi 15 points and 12 rebounds for Denver.

■ Drake 85, AIR FORCE 80: Roman Penn scored a career-high 22 points to lead the Bulldogs (10-3) past the Falcons (6-7).
