Sunday slightly cooler; rain possible Tuesday
Sunday’s weather probably won’t match Saturday’s balmy performance, but it still promises mostly sunny skies, according to the National Weather Service.
Saturday’s temperatures reached 75 degrees, drawing residents and tourists outside. By early afternoon, Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area’s scenic loop closed temporarily because of a high number of visitors, according to a tweet from the conservation area.
“This weather is definitely springlike, meaning we are experiencing high visitation and the Scenic Drive is closed temporarily due to capacity,” according to the post.
Sunday’s forecast calls for a 69-degree high and mostly sunny skies, weather service meteorologist Barry Pierce said. Monday will have an expected high of 70 before a “fairly warm” storm system moves into the valley, Pierce said.

An altercation between two family members “turned physical,” Lt. Jose Hernandez said.
One person struck the other with
“an edged weapon, severing his arm,” Hernandez said. The victim was taken to University Medical Center, where he underwent surgery.
The suspect fled the scene but was later found nearby by police.
Hernandez declined to release more details Saturday — including the victim’s condition or whether the suspect was booked into jail — and said the investigation is still ongoing.
The dispute occurred at an apartment complex on East Charleston Boulevard near the intersection with Nellis Boulevard.
