Flames’ Hamonic, others won’t report for NHL season’s restart
Calgary defenseman Travis Hamonic, Dallas defenseman Roman Polak and Vancouver left wing Sven Baertschi told their teams they won’t report to camp for the NHL season’s resumption. Hamonic, 29, has a daughter who was hospitalized last year with respiratory issues and a baby boy.
■ New England settled compensation grievances with wide receiver Antonio Brown and late tight end Aaron Hernandez, leaving the Patriots $7.79 million under the salary cap, ESPN reported.
■ The Palace of Auburn Hills, Detroit’s home venue from 1988 to 2017, was turned to rubble with a series of controlled explosions.
