No. 10 Notre Dame 27, Duke 13: At South Bend, Ind., Kyren Williams ran for 112 yards and two TDs on 19 carries and caught two passes for 93 yards for the Fighting Irish (1-0, 1-0) in their 19th straight home win and first in a conference after 132 years as an independen­t. Chase Brice threw for 259 yards and ran for a TD for the Blue Devils (0-1, 0-1), who held a 151-13 edge in yards of offense in the first quarter.

■ No. 18 North Carolina 31, Syracuse 6: At Chapel Hill, N.C., Javonte Williams ran for TDs of 1, 6 and 6 yards in the fourth quarter for the Tar Heels (1-0, 1-0), who held the Orange (0-1, 0-1) to 202 yards of offense. Michael Carter totaled 138 yards of offense for UNC, which opened with a TD drive but then sputtered well into the third quarter because of turnovers and penalties.

Georgia Tech 16, Florida State 13: At Tallahasse­e, Fla., true freshman Jeff Sims, once a Florida State commitment, threw for 277 yards and a TD and ran for 64 yards for the Yellow Jackets (1-0, 1-0), who overcame two field goals blocked by Marvin Wilson to edge the Seminoles (0-1, 0-1). Cornerback Asante Samuel had two intercepti­ons and broke up two other passes for Florida State. Jordan Mason ran for 55 yards and a TD for Georgia Tech.

Louisville 35, Western Kentucky 21: At Louisville, Ky., Micale Cunningham passed for 343 yards and three TDs and ran for a score for the Cardinals (1-0), who totaled 487 yards of offense and held the Hilltopper­s (0-1) to 248. Western Kentucky scored first after Louisville fumbled a punt snap and set up another TD when Omari Alexander blocked a punt.

■ Pittsburgh 55, Austin Peay 0: At Pittsburgh, Kenny Pickett threw for 277 yards and a TD and ran for a score as the Panthers (1-0) scored on each of their first six possession­s. The Governors (0-1) mustered 146 yards of offense, including 10 rushing. Seven players caught passes and six scored TDs on Pitt’s first six drives. The Panthers notched their first shutout in six years.

No. 5 Oklahoma 48, Missouri State 0: At Norman, Okla., Spencer Rattler threw for 290 yards and four TDs over two quarters in his first start for the Sooners (1-0), who led 31-0 after one quarter. The Bears (0-1) mustered 136 yards of offense and were outgained 236-1 in the first quarter. True freshman Seth McGowan caught a TD pass and ran for a score, and Charleston Rambo had four catches for 80 yards and two TDs as Oklahoma amassed 608 yards of offense.

No. 14 Texas 59, Texas-El Paso 3: At Austin, Texas, Sam Ehlinger threw a 78-yard TD pass to Joshua Moore on the first play and totaled five scoring passes in the first half as the Longhorns (1-0) buried the Miners (1-1).

Texas Tech 35, Houston Baptist 33: At Lubbock, Texas, Alan Bowman threw for 430 yards and two TDs for the Red Raiders (1-0), who stopped the Huskies (0-2) on a late 2-point conversion try. Bailey Zappe threw for 567 yards and four TDs for Houston Baptist, with Josh Sterns notching 209 yards receiving and two scores.

■ Arkansas State 35, Kansas State 31: At Manhattan, Kan., Jonathan Adams Jr. caught three TD passes, including the winning 17-yarder with 38 seconds left, for the Red Wolves (1-1), who held the Wildcats (0-1) to 91 yards rushing. Arkansas State trailed 21-7 in the second quarter, before Jeff Foreman threw a 48-yard TD pass to fellow Red Wolves wide receiver Roshauud Paul.

■ West Virginia 56, Eastern Kentucky 10: At Morgantown, W.Va., Leddie Brown and Alec Sinkfield each ran for 123 yards and two TDs for the Mountainee­rs (1-0), who didn’t have a 100yard rusher last season while averaging 73 yards rushing per game.
