SHIRLEY NELL HART

-

Shirley passed away peacefully at her home in Las Vegas, NV on January 29, 2021. Born on September 18, 1927 in Minneapolis, MN to David and Hermina Wahlin, Shirley spent her childhood in rural Minnesota surrounded by a large extended and loving family. She attended teacher’s college in St. Cloud, MN and there she met William (Bill) Hart. They married in 1948 and lived in Alaska for a couple years. They settled in Las Vegas in 1955. Married for seventy-one years, they had five children together. Shirley was a beloved and adored teacher whose career began in a one-room schoolhouse in Minnesota and continued for many years in Las Vegas teaching kindergarten and first grade. She was a loving, patient mother and we adored her and never doubted her love for us. A wonderful entertainer, she and her beloved Bill hosted numerous parties in which he and musician friends played live music. They enjoyed many memorable nights out on the town and a wide variety of trips either exploring the world or visiting family and friends. Shirley was a warm hearted listener, had a delightful sense of style, sported a mischievous sense of humor and always had a twinkle in her eye. She had a wide circle of friends whom she cherished and who loved her, too. They shared favorite books, played endless rounds of cards, confided in one another, shopped and shared life’s precious moments. Her kindness and grace will be missed so very much.

She is survived by her sister DeeLores Wahlin, three daughters Dr. Barbara Ammon, Susan Smith (Byron) and Kristin Sindelar (Jeff), six grandchildren, Dr. Lyndsay Ammon-Avalos (Roberto), Sarah Ammon, Blake Ammon, Byron Kyle Smith, Ashley McGlynn (Michael) and Ryan Hart and two great-grandchildren, Ariana and Andreas Avalos. She is preceded in death by two sons, William E. Hart IV and Paul David Hart. Services will be private.
