Doncic, Mavs counter sublime Curry outing

Warriors guard’s 57 points go for naught

DALLAS — Luka Doncic tied his career high with 42 points in a scoring duel with Stephen Curry, leading the Dallas Mavericks to a 134-132 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Saturday.

Curry hit a season-high 11 3-pointers on the way to 57 points. It was the second-highest total of the Golden State star’s career, behind the 62 points he scored Jan. 3 in a win over Portland.

Doncic was 12 of 23 from field and 11 of 14 on free throws with 11 assists and seven rebounds as the Mavs ended a six-game home skid, the second-longest in Rick Carlisle’s 13 seasons as coach.

Curry was 11 of 19 from beyond the arc and made all eight of his free throws. Draymond Green matched his season high of 15 assists for Golden State.

Curry got the Warriors within one point with a three-point play with 28 seconds left, but Doncic assisted on a 3-pointer by Maxi Kleber to put Dallas up 134-130 with 5.6 seconds left.

Kristaps Porzingis had 18 points and 10 rebounds and Josh Richardson 17 points for the Mavs. Andrew Wiggins scored 22 points and Kent Bazemore 20 for Golden State.

■ Lakers 135, Pistons 129, 2OT: At Los Angeles, LeBron James scored eight of his 33 points in the second overtime, and Anthony Davis added 30 points for Los Angeles, which overcame a season-high 23 turnovers. Jerami Grant had 32 points, and Josh Jackson scored 25 of his 28 after halftime for Detroit.

■ Kings 119, Nuggets 114: At Sacramento, Calif., Harrison Barnes scored 28 points to help Sacramento offset Nikola Jokic’s 50-point, 12-assist outing as the Kings capped a three-game season sweep.

118: At Oklahoma City, Darius Bazley put Oklahoma City ahead to stay with a layup with 1:16 left after the Thunder had blown a 23-point lead from a franchise-record 83-point first half.

■ Pelicans 118, Grizzlies 109:

At New Orleans, Zion Williamson scored 29 points for New Orleans, which held a 23-7 scoring edge over the final seven minutes in its third straight win.

■ Bulls 118, Magic 92: At Orlando, Fla., Zach LaVine scored 39 points for Chicago, which held Orlando to 38.9-percent shooting. The Magic were missing four would-be starters.

■ Knicks 110, Trail Blazers 99: At New York, Elfrid Payton and Julius Randle each had 22 points for New York, which led 57-51 at halftime and 84-76 after three quarters.

■ 76ers 124, Nets 108: At Philadelph­ia, Joel Embiid had 33 points and Ben Simmons 16 points, 12 rebeounds and eight assists for Philadelph­ia in its fifth win in six games.

■ Bucks 124, Cavaliers 99: At Cleveland, Giannis Antetokoun­mpo had 24 points and 11 rebounds for Milwaukee, which had a 42-18 run spanning the final two quarters.

■ Hawks 132, Raptors 121: At Atlanta, Trae Young had 28 points and 13 assists for Atlanta, which snapped its three-game skid and Toronto’s three-game win streak.

■ Spurs 111, Rockets 106: At Houston, DeMar DeRozan scored five straight points to put San Antonio ahead to stay with one minute left and totaled 30 points.
