Mike Longi has joined Meruelo Gaming as executive vice president and chief financial officer providing financial assistance for both Sahara Las Vegas and Grand Sierra Resort and Casino.
“Mike joins Meruelo Gaming at a pivotal moment in our company’s history,” said Alex Meruelo, owner of Sahara Las Vegas and GSR. “As we emerge from the challenges of 2020 and continue to invest in our casino-resorts in Las Vegas and Reno, we are counting on Mike’s leadership and longtenured experience to guide our successful navigation of the months and years ahead.”
Longi previously held key senior-level positions at MGM Resorts International, including senior vice president of corporate casino marketing and operations and senior vice president and chief financial officer of Bellagio Hotel & Casino, Mirage Las Vegas and Treasure Island.
Jim Bombassei was named senior vice president of investor relations for Scientific Games and subsidiary SciPlay Corp. Bombassei “brings significant investor relationships and corporate finance experience that will be a benefit to Scientific Games, SciPlay and our investor community,” said Mike Eklund, chief financial officer. Most recently Bombassei served as senior vice president, investor relations, and treasurer of Viacom.
Grand Canyon Development Partners, a Las Vegas-based development and project management company, announced the appointment of Karim Jabal as director of technology services. Prior to joining the company, Jabal held executive-level positions at JBA Consulting Engineers, National Technology Associates, Perini Building Company and Kelley Technologies.
Jewish Nevada has promoted Megan Weintraub from director of annual giving and women’s philanthropy to chief philanthropy officer. In her new role, she will still oversee women’s philanthropy and the men’s division, and will lead the team in development efforts and strategic growth planning to expand Jewish Nevada’s reach.
