Hawks overcome Durant’s 55 points to slip past Nets

ATLANTA — Trae Young scored nine of his 36 points in the final minute as Atlanta overcame Kevin Durant’s career-high 55 points to hold off Brooklyn 122-115 on Saturday for its fifth straight win.

The Hawks (41-37) moved into eighth place in East, one game ahead of the Nets (40-38) and Charlotte, with their 10th win in 13 games.

Kyrie Irving scored 31 points, and Durant hit a career-best eight 3-pointers. But Brooklyn had no other double-figure scorers in its second straight loss.

The Nets were without guards Goran Dragic (COVID-19 symptoms) and Seth Curry (sore left ankle) and forward Bruce Brown (flu).

■ Warriors 111, Jazz 107: At San Francisco, Klay Thompson scored 36 points and Jordan Poole 31 for Golden State, which erased a 16-point fourth-quarter deficit to halt a four-game skid and clinch a playoff berth. Donovan Mitchell and Mike Conley each had 26 points for Utah, which led 103-87 with eight minutes left, before the Warriors went on an 18-0 run. The Jazz led by 21 in the first half.

■ Heat 127, Bulls 109: At Chicago, Jimmy Butler scored 22 points, and Kyle Lowry and Tyler Herro each added 19 for East-leading Miami (50-28), which moved within one win of clinching home-court advantage in the first playoff round.

■ 76ers 144, Hornets 114: At Philadelph­ia, Joel Embiid had 29 points and 14 rebounds for Philadelph­ia, which tied a franchise record with 21 3-pointers in 43 tries and halted a three-game skid.

■ Cavaliers 119, Knicks 101: At New York, Darius Garland had 24 points and 13 assists for Cleveland, which had seven double-figure scorers and shot 54.3 percent while halting a two-game skid.
