JAMES EDWARD BECKER

James E. Becker, age 77, of Las Vegas, Nev., passed away on April 23, 2022. He was a longtime Las Vegas resident and retired from the airline industry.

"Jim" was born a paternal twin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Sept. 23, 1944, to Mary Magister and Arthur Nicholas Becker. He is a descendant of Nicholas Edward Becker, an immigrant farmer from Luxemburg who became a renowned poet and Wisconsin

lawmaker.

After high school, Jim found his vocational calling as a reservationist and, later, as a passenger service agent for North Central Airlines. The small airline, known for its mallard duck logo, allowed Jim to travel the world. He was especially fond of his adventures in South America and the Caribbean. He stayed with the airlines through several buyouts and mergers, eventually retiring from Northwest Airlines after 42 years.

During his time with the airline, Jim turned down countless promotions because he loved people. He enjoyed working alongside coworkers and never over them; personally helping passengers at the ticket counter or gate. He made many lifelong friends there, people who always expressed gratitude as they passed through Vegas.

His love of people and wry sense of humor were enjoyed outside of work as well. Many of his stepson's and daughter's friends considered him their second "cooler" father - the one who wore jean jackets, rode motorcycles, and enjoyed vodka on the rocks because beer had "too much calcium." Although he used to joke about being a reluctant family man, Jim helped raise three generations of children, all of whom loved him; and three dogs, despite his vow to never have pets.

Jim is survived by his wife of 47 years, Judith Becker; daughter Stacy Becker; stepson Richard R. Becker; grandchildren Cody Becker, Griffin Becker, Kristopher Edwards, Aniya Edwards, and Jenna

Becker; and six great-grandchildren, along with his brothers Dick Becker and Tom Becker. Another daughter, Gina Stachura, and her children, Damon and Landon, are also joined.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to the National Pancreas Foundation. A private memorial service is planned for 9 a.m. on May 7. Interested persons may contact family or friends for information.
