SEYMOUR JOSEPH POSNER February 23, 1942 - June 13, 2022

-

A terrific father, grandfather and husband, Seymour “Sy” Posner passed away peacefully with his children beside him. Sy was born on February 23, 1942, to Irving and Blanche Posner in Brooklyn, NY. He had an older sister Harriet Sayer, and a younger brother, Larry Posner. Sy’s childhood years were spent moving frequently in New York and New Jersey, on account of Irving and Blanche’s innovative house flipping investments. He learned to be a builder, adding on sections to these homes and completing renovations at the early age of twelve years old. Sy attended James Madison High School, where he won the silver PSAL medal in swimming during his senior year. He attended New York University and CW Post College, where he studied biology from 1958 -1963. Sy enlisted in the US Navy in 1965 as a Corpsman, where he was stationed at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital until his discharge in 1967. HM3 Posner served honorably as a medic. He performed physicals for transitioning sailors and marines, and saved many lives as an EMT. He also tended to the elderly and the wounded returning from Vietnam. Sy moved back to his hometown in 1970 to complete a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Brooklyn College. After his graduation in 1973, Sy embarked on several entrepreneurial ventures, including Shucks Jeans Shop, which became a hang out for the local kids in the neighborhood. Sy met the mother of his three children, Ziona Posner, in 1979, and they married that same year. Sy had an adventurous career in various industries. As a pharmaceutical sales representative, he learned the art of conversation, quickly becoming number one sales rep in his region. He owned a contractor business where he employed troubled teens, providing them with an opportunity to learn a trade and an honest wage. He started a computer business in the early years of the tech boom, where he not only became the resident expert in his community, but also consulted as a network engineer for highly acclaimed international businesses in New York City’s Financial District. Notably, Sy continued managing commercial real estate during these ventures. In his retirement in 2005, he followed his lifelong dream to become an actor, taking on roles in films and web series filmed in the Las Vegas area. Sy is survived by his wife Ziona Posner, daughter Lilly Lewin (husband Erik), sons Isaac Posner (wife Karen) and Roy Posner (wife Susan), and grandchildren Kaylah Ahava Posner, Ellie Yafa Posner, Maya Levana Posner, and Samuel Norman Posner. His memory will live in our hearts forever and his spirit in this world will be forever missed. King David Memorial Chapel handled the arrangements.
