Sherfield, Oklahoma coast to win over No. 2 Alabama

UNR transfer Grant Sherfield scored 30 points to lead host Oklahoma past No. 2 Alabama 93-69. Jalen Hill added 26 points for the Sooners (12-9), who shot 58 percent and posted a season-best point total. The Crimson Tide (18-3), who trailed 50-33 at halftime, had won nine straight.

■ No. 3 Houston 75, Cincinnati 69: At Houston, Jarace Walker scored 25 points for the Cougars (20-2, 8-1 AAC), who overcame an 11-point second-half deficit in their eighth straight win over the Bearcats (14-8, 5-4).

■ No. 4 Tennessee 82, No. 10 Texas 71: At Knoxville, Tenn., Olivier Nkamhoua scored 27 points for the Volunteers (183), who led by 22 midway through the second half. The Longhorns (17-4) were outrebound­ed 38-24.

■ Mississipp­i State 81, No. 11 Texas

Christian 74, OT: At Starkville, Miss., Tolu Smith had 27 points and 13 rebounds for the Bulldogs (13-8), who had lost five straight. The Horned Frogs (16-5) trailed 31-25 at halftime.

■ Missouri 78, No. 12 Iowa State 61: At Columbia, Mo., Kobe Brown had 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Tigers (16-5), who scored 20 points off the nine turnovers by the Cyclones (15-5).

■ Creighton 84, No. 13 Xavier 67: At Omaha, Neb., Arthur Kamula scored 20 points for the Bluejays (13-8, 7-3 Big East), who shot 58 percent. The Musketeers (175, 9-2) trailed 42-28 at halftime.

■ No. 14 Gonzaga 82, Portland 67:

At Portland, Ore., Liberty product Julian Strawther hit eight 3-pointers and totaled a career-high 40 points for the Bulldogs (18-4, 7-1 West Coast) in their 16th straight win over the Pilots (11-13, 3-5).

■ West Virginia 80, No. 15 Auburn 77: At Morgantown, W.VA., Erik Stevenson scored 31 points for the Mountainee­rs (13-8), who didn’t trail. The Tigers (16-5), down 45-29 at halftime, got within 79-77 with 7.6 seconds left.

■ No. 17 Baylor 67, Arkansas 64: At Waco, Texas, Keyonte George scored 24 points for the Bears (16-5), who shot 34 percent. The Razorbacks (14-7) led by eight in the second half.

■ Hofstra 85, No. 18 Charleston 81: At Charleston, S.C., Aaron Estrada scored 25 points for the Pride (15-8, 8-2 CAA), who halted a 20-game win streak by the Cougars (21-2, 9-1).

■ Pittsburgh 71, No. 20 Miami 68:

At Pittsburgh, Blake Hinson tipped in a missed shot with 31 seconds left and totaled 21 points for the Panthers (15-7, 8-3 ACC), who held the Hurricanes (16-5, 7-4) scoreless over the final 2:26 while closing on an 11-0 run.

At Boise, Idaho, Tyson Degenhart scored 22 points for the Broncos (17-5, 7-2), who shot 59 percent. The Rams (10-12, 2-7) trailed 44-29 at halftime.

At Fresno, Calif., reserve Dan Akin had 23 points, eight rebounds and three blocks for the Aggies (17-5, 6-3). The Bulldogs (7-13, 3-6) didn’t lead in the second half.
