Yankees ride Judge’s blast past Orioles

-

BALTIMORE — Aaron Judge homered and singled twice in his second game back from the injured list as the New York Yankees beat Baltimore 8-3 on Saturday.

Giancarlo Stanton and Kyle Higashioka also went deep for the Yankees, who knocked out Orioles starter Tyler Wells (7-6) in the third inning. In the sixth, Isiah Kiner-falefa capped a 10-pitch at-bat with a three-run double that put New York up 8-3.

Judge has three walks and three hits in nine plate appearances since returning Friday from the toe injury that kept him out since early June.

Baltimore stayed 1½ games ahead of Tampa Bay atop the American League East. The Yankees are 3½ behind Toronto and Houston for the American League’s final two wild cards.

Stanton’s first-inning solo drive easily cleared Camden Yards’ big wall in left field. Ryan Mountcastle homered to tie it in the second, and the Orioles went up 2-1 on an RBI single by Ramon Urias. That lead was short-lived.

Judge hit a two-run shot — 442 feet to center field — in the third, and Gleyber Torres added a sacrifice fly an inning later.

■ Diamondbacks 4, Mariners 3: At Phoenix, Corbin Carroll drew a leadoff walk in the eighth, coaxed a balk by Andres Munoz (2-4), stole third and scored the go-ahead run on fellow rookie Dominic Canzone’s chopper through Seattle’s drawn-in infield.
