Nixon fiasco set a bad precedent

-

Although he’s been dead for 30 years and out of office since 1974, Richard Nixon continues to haunt the American people, even from his eternal sleep.

If only he had seen the inside of a courtroom after his impeachment and resignation, many of the issues confounding our justice system today would have been resolved long ago.

Unfortunately, President Gerald Ford’s pardon of his predecessor left the door open to second-guessing. The disgraced former president once said, “the people have got to know whether or not their president is a crook.”

Of course, voters already had a pretty good idea about Nixon and with any luck, we’ll soon know the whole truth about Donald Trump as well.
