Injured Cavaliers forward Love eager to be back in Cleveland next season

Cavaliers power forward Kevin Love, watching the NBA Finals from the sidelines because of season-ending surgery on his shoulder, is not wavering about being back in Cleveland next season.

Watching his team face the Golden State Warriors has Love reiterating his desire to win a championship with LeBron James and the Cavs.

“I had so much fun watching it because I want to be in a moment like that,” Love told ESPN on Thursday night after the Cavaliers’ 108-100 overtime loss. “I’d rather be out there helping those guys, and I saw a lot of places where I could help. I’ve never wanted to be in a game more than that one.”

Also: The Warriors’ victory over the Cavaliers averaged a 10.6 household rating with more than 17 million viewers — the largest audience for an NBA Finals Game 1 ever on ABC.

According to Nielsen numbers, a record 17,768,000 viewers watched Game 1, up 21 percent from almost 14.7 million for last year’s series opener between the San Antonio Spurs and Miami Heat.

WNBA standout Brittney Griner filed papers to have her 29-day-old marriage to Glory Johnson annulled.

“Last Wednesday, Glory and I agreed to either legally separate, get divorced, or annul our marriage,” Griner, who plays for the Phoenix Mercury, said in a statement. “I can confirm that today I filed for an annulment. In the week prior to the wedding, I attempted to postpone the wedding several times until I completed counseling, but I still went through with it. I now realize that was a mistake.”

Johnson, who plays for the Tulsa Shock, told TMZ she was surprised by the news that Griner had filed the annulment paperwork. The two were married May 8, three weeks after both were arrested in Arizona on domestic violence charges.

Griner’s announcement comes one day after Johnson announced on Instagram that she is pregnant. The Shock said Johnson would miss the 2015 season because of the pregnancy.
