RJ to report from Raiders’ camp this weekend

NFL training camps are beginning this week, and the Oakland Raiders open theirs Thursday in Napa, California. Review-Journal reporter Matt Youmans and videographer Heidi Fang will be there over the weekend filing stories, photos and videos.

Among the topics you will see addressed are:

1) What are coaches, players and front-office personnel saying about the franchise’s potential move from Oakland to Las Vegas? Raiders owner Mark Davis is on record as saying he will move the team if a stadium is built in Las Vegas;

2) Quarterback Derek Carr (pictured above) is coming off a season in which he completed 61.1 percent of his passes and threw for 3,987 yards and 32 touchdowns. What does the third-year player need to do to take the next step in his development?

3) Las Vegas sports books have posted the Raiders’ win total at 8½. That comes after a 7-9 record last season in Jack Del Rio’s first as coach. In the three previous seasons, they finished 3-13, 4-12 and 4-12. Are bettors jumping on the bandwagon?
