■ Rangers 9, Indians 0 — At Arlington, Texas, Cole Hamels (14-4) blanked Cleveland on two singles and one walk and struck out eight in eight innings, and Carlos Gomez hit a three-run homer in his first at-bat with AL West-leading Texas. The AL Central-leading Indians have totaled three runs in their past four games.
■ Rays 2, Red Sox 1 — At St. Petersburg, Fla., Mikie Mahtook ended a stretch of 34 hitless at-bats with a go-ahead RBI double in the seventh off Drew Pomeranz (10-10), and Jake Odorizzi (9-5) improved to 6-0 in eight starts since the All-Star break by holding Boston to one run on five hits in seven innings.
■ Angels 6, Blue Jays 3 — At Toronto, Albert Pujols had two hits and reached the 100-RBI mark for the 13th time, the fifth major leaguer to do so, and Mike Trout had three hits and four RBIs as Los Angeles won consecutive games for the first time since Aug. 2-3 and dealt J.A. Happ (17-4) his first loss in 12 decisions.
■ Tigers 8, Twins 5 — At Minneapolis, James McCann had a three-run homer and totaled four hits to back Daniel Norris (2-2), who gave up two runs in 6 1/3 innings, as Detroit dealt Minnesota its seventh straight loss. The Tigers are 10-2 against the Twins and have won eight straight at Target Field.
■ White Sox 7, Mariners 6 — At Chicago, Todd Frazier hit a tying two-run single in the seventh inning and a walk-off RBI single in the ninth as Chicago handed Seattle its third straight loss. Robinson Cano hit his 29th home run for the Mariners, who fell 7½ games behind AL West-leading Texas.
