Demian Maia (23-6) vs. Carlos Condit (30-9)

-

Class: Welterweight Line: Condit minus-125 Storyline: A matchup of veteran contenders that will put one of them in position to make a claim on a future title shot. Condit is one of the organization’s more well-rounded fighters. He is skilled and powerful on his feet and possesses a dangerous ground game. Don’t expect him to test that part of his game against Maia, however. Maia, who has won five straight, is the division’s best fighter on the mat and might be the best in the UFC. Condit is coming off a split-decision loss to thenchamp Robbie Lawler in an epic January title bout. That thriller may have taken something out of Condit, but he showed he is fully recovered from a serious knee injury in 2014. Condit at that level should be too much for Maia as long as he can avoid too many grappling exchanges.

Pick: Condit by third-round knockout
