■ Blue Jays 4, Yankees 3 — At Toronto, Ezequiel Carrera drove in the tying run with a ninth-inning squeeze bunt, and Edwin Encarnacio­n hit a slow roller between first and second two batters later to plate the winner as Toronto climbed 1½ games ahead of Baltimore for the top AL wild card. The Blue Jays have won eight straight home games over New York.

■ White Sox 3, Indians 0 — At Cleveland, Carlos Rodon (8-10) blanked Cleveland on two singles and struck out a career-high 11 over eight innings, and Carlos Sanchez drove in two runs as Chicago kept the Indians from clinching their first AL Central title since 2007. Cleveland opens a four-game set Monday at second-place Detroit.

■ Royals 12, Tigers 9 — At Detroit, Salvador Perez homered to cap a cycle by Kansas City’s first four batters of the game, and the Royals went deep three more times. The defending World Series champions avoided eliminatio­n from this year’s postseason race and dropped Detroit 1½ games behind Baltimore for the second AL wild card.

■ Red Sox 3, Rays 2 — At St. Petersburg, Fla., Dustin Pedroia deftly avoided catcher Luke Maile’s tag to score from first base on David Ortiz’s 10th-inning double as AL Eastleadin­g Boston won its 11th straight. Red Sox starter Eduardo Rodriguez struck out a career-high 13 in 5 1/3 innings, and Joe Kelly (4-0) worked 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.

■ Mariners 4, Twins 3 — At Minneapoli­s, Nelson Cruz homered twice before leaving with left wrist soreness, and Jesus Sucre homered for the first time in 14 months as Seattle dealt Minnesota its 100th loss and stayed 2½ games behind Baltimore for the second AL wild card. Nick Vincent, Steve Cishek and Edwin Diaz combined for 3 2/3 innings of no-hit relief for the Mariners.

■ Astros 4, Angels 1 — At Houston, Evan Gattis, Tony Kemp and Tyler White homered to back rookie Joe Musgrove (4-4), who held Los Angeles to one run on seven hits in seven innings, as Houston snapped a three-game slide and remained three games behind Baltimore for the second AL wild card. Rookie Daniel Wright (0-5) gave up three runs in six innings.

■ Athletics 7, Rangers 1 — At Oakland, Calif., Ryon Healy had three hits, including a three-run homer, Stephen Vogt drove in three runs, and Jharel Cotton (2-0) held Texas to one run on three hits in seven innings as Oakland avoided a series sweep. The AL West-champion Rangers fell into a tie with Boston for home-field advantage in the playoffs. ahead run on Wil Myers’ single as San Diego dropped San Francisco a game behind the Mets in the NL wild-card race. Margot doubled in the first and hit an RBI single in the second, both off Ty Blach, who was making his first major league start in place of injured Johnny Cueto.

■ Mets 17, Phillies 0 — At New York, Asdrubal Cabrera hit a grand slam, Jose Reyes came to bat four straight times with the bases loaded and drove in four runs, and Robert Gsellman (3-2) blanked Philadelph­ia on three hits over seven innings in New York’s most decisive shutout win in team history. The Mets top the NL wild-card standings by one game over San Francisco.

■ Nationals 10, Pirates 7 — At Pittsburgh, Jason Werth’s pinch-hit two-run homer was the big blow in Washington’s five-run eighth inning off former teammate Felipe Rivero (1-5). Shawn Kelley (3-2) struck out two in a perfect eighth to post the win, and Mark Melancon, traded to the Nationals for Rivero on July 30, registered his 43rd save.

■ Reds 4, Brewers 2 — At Milwaukee, Brandon Finnegan (10-11) blanked Milwaukee on three hits and struck out four over five innings, needing only 54 pitches, to finish 4-3 with a 2.23 ERA in his final 11 starts of the season. Brewers starter Wily Peralta (7-11) gave up two earned runs on five hits and fanned five in six innings.
