Las Vegas Review-Journal

We’re already ramping up our pro hockey coverage

-

The other day I received a phone call from an organist in Ontario — Canada, not California — who wanted to play the pipes for Las Vegas’ expansion NHL team next season. He wanted to know who to call to get the job.

I’ve got just the man: ReviewJournal reporter Steve Carp provides a profile of the team’s new president, Kerry Bubolz, who will be in charge of the NHL team’s business operations, in Sunday’s Review-Journal sports section.

Bubolz talks with Carp about the daunting job of creating marketing, business plans and fan experiences from scratch. He loves hockey and is leaving an impressive job with the NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers.

Carp’s feature is an example of the improved hockey coverage we are providing on a regular basis. In case you haven’t noticed, we are giving you a longer NHL roundup than last season along with standings and box scores every day.

But we have more on Sundays, when we offer expanded standings and Carp’s weekly NHL notebook. The latter features notes around the league, and especially news that affects the local franchise.

We’ll be expanding that daily coverage even more next season, when the, uh, (blank) Knights start. We hope you’ll appreciate it as much as that organist will — if he gets that job.
