Defending champion Thomas leads CIMB Classic by two shots

Defending champion Justin Thomas shot a 6-under-par 66 for a 14-under 130 total to take a twostroke lead halfway through the CIMB Classic, staying within striking distance of his tournament record at TPC Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.

Thomas finished at 26-under 262 last year for his first PGA Tour title.

Asian Tour leader Anirban Lahiri of India was second after a 66 despite closing with a double bogey for the second straight day.

UNLV product Ryan Moore (65), the 2013 and 2014 winner, and Brendan Steele (69) were 8 under.

■ LPGA: At Hainan, China, Australian Minjee Lee followed her opening 7-under 65 with a bogey-free 67 to stretch her lead to six strokes in the windy Blue Bay LPGA.

■ EUROPEAN PGA: At Vilamoura, Portugal, defending champion Andy Sullivan shot a 10-under 61 for a 14-under 128 total and a share of the Portugal Masters lead.
