NEW YORK JETS 24, BALTIMORE RAVENS 16
At MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey ■ RECAP: Ryan Fitzpatrick replaced injured Geno Smith and led the Jets (2-5) on three scoring drives, and a rejuvenated defense made two interceptions to enable a comeback over the Ravens (3-4) and snap New York’s four-game skid.
Smith started for the first time since 2014, but injured his right knee in the second quarter on a sack by Matthew Judon. Fitzpatrick went 9 of 14 for 120 yards to help New York get its first win since Sept. 15 at Buffalo.
Fitzpatrick played efficiently after losing his job early last week, having thrown an NFLleading 11 interceptions and only five TD passes. Smith went 4 of 8 for 95 yards, including a 69-yard TD to Quincy Enunwa.
Joe Flacco started for Baltimore after being questionable with a sore shoulder. His teamrecord streak of 176 pass attempts without an interception ended when Buster Skrine picked him off in the third quarter and returned it 51 yards to the Ravens 3. The Jets faltered and had to settle for Nick Folk’s 22-yard field goal and a 17-16 lead.
New York’s defense made it two possessions in a row with a takeaway as Marcus Gilchrist picked off Flacco and returned it 27 yards to the Ravens 24. This time, the Jets cashed in on Matt Forte’s 1-yard run with 56 seconds left in the third.
