-

UNLV junior Dakota Gonzalez was named the Mountain West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week after posting a pair of career-best scoring performances while leading the Lady Rebels to a 2-0 week, the conference office announced on Monday.

Gonzalez is the first Lady Rebel to receive the conference weekly honor since Aley Rohde was honored on Nov. 23, 2015, while this is the first weekly honor in Gonzalez’s career as well.

A 6-0 guard and native of Pocatello, Idaho, Gonzalez averaged 27 points and 9.5 rebounds while shooting 50 percent (22-of44) from the floor and 50 percent (4-of-8) from three-point range as well over the two games.

■ WOMEN’S GOLF: UNLV shot a 2-over 286 to bring its two-day total to 10-over 578 and stay in fifth place at the 22nd annual Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge.

Mackenzie Raim finished with a 3-under 68 on the day. Her best round of her junior campaign so far brought her to 2-under 140 for the tournament - just three shots off the lead and in a tie for sixth heading into the final round.

■ WOMEN’S TENNIS: For the second time in his career, UNLV head coach Kevin Cory has been named the United States Professional Tennis Association Intermountain College Coach of the Year.

Cory, who is in his 18th season leading the program, is the winningest coach in both school and Mountain West Conference women’s tennis history.

In 2016, his team broke the program record for consecutive victories with 19 and for highest winning percentage in a season with a .923 mark (24-2 overall).

■ MEN’S SOCCER: Three in-state players have signed national letters of intent to play for the UNLV men’s soccer team in the fall of 2017, head coach Rich Ryerson announced.

Joining the Rebels will be Jesus Partida from Reno, along with Las Vegas natives Marco Gonzalez and Ivan Farias.
