Cold-shooting Lady Rebels suffer MW loss to Aggies

The Lady Rebels saw their five-game conference winning streak snapped with a 58-49 loss to Utah State at Logan, Utah on Tuesday.

Brooke Johnson led UNLV (20-9, 11-6 Mountain West) with 14 points, five rebounds and five assists. She made 5 of her 13 shots overall but was only 1 of 8 from three-point range.

The Lady Rebels overall were cold from the floor, making just 15 of their 52 shots and going 6-of-24 from long distance.

■ BASEBALL: UNLV’s ninthinnin­g rally fell short as the Rebels lost to UC-Riverside 11-9 at Wilson Stadium.

The Highlander­s took control of the game with a seven-run sixth inning to take a 10-4 lead. The Rebels (3-5) scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth but couldn’t complete the comeback.

Ernie De La Trinidad and Justin Jones led UNLV’s offense with three hits apiece.

■ MEN’S GOLF: The No. 17 Rebels shot a final-round 6-under-par 282 and finished in a tie for second at the National Invitation­al Tournament, which was played at Omni Tucson National-Catalina Course (par 72, 7,200 yards).

UNLV sophomore Harry Hall tied for second with Iowa State’s Nick Voke, four shots back, at 13-under.

■ WOMEN’S GOLF: UNLV finished out the month of February with a 12th-place finish at University of Houston’s “The Dickson” tournament at The Woodlands Country Club just outside of Houston, Texas. The Rebels shot a 15-over 303 over the final 18 for a three-round score of 33-over 897.
