No. 22 Wisconsin sloppy late, toppled at home by Hawkeyes

MADISON, Wis. — Jordan Bohannon hit the winning 3-pointer with nine seconds left, and Iowa capitalize­d on No. 22 Wisconsin’s sloppy final few minutes with a 7-0 run to beat the Badgers 59-57 on Thursday.

After Ethan Happ missed two free throws that could have sealed the win for Wisconsin (22-8, 11-6 Big Ten), Iowa’s Peter Jok missed a jumper in the lane.

But Cordell Pemsl corralled the offensive rebound, and Bohannon hit the 3 from the left wing, stunning the crowd at the Kohl Center after the Badgers led by nine with 4:15 left.

The Hawkeyes (17-13, 9-8) have won two straight road games as they try to improve their postseason resume. Wisconsin lost its third straight game, going scoreless for the final 3:12.

Iowa forced turnovers on consecutiv­e Badgers inbounds passes in that stretch, converting each mistake into baskets to set up the game-winner by Bohannon, who totaled 11 points. COLLEGE BASKETBALL

Bronson Koenig led Wisconsin with 19 points, and Nigel Hayes scored eight of his 10 in the second half.

But Iowa set the tone over the final few minutes with steals and offensive rebounds.

Nicholas Baer had 12 points in the first half on 4-for-4 shooting from 3-point range for Iowa, finishing with a season-high 14 points.

Jok was held to eight points on 2-for-10 shooting.

No. 14 Southern Methodist 93, Tulsa 70 — At Dallas, Semi Ojeleye scored 26 points on 9-for-9 shooting for the Mustangs (26-4, 16-1 American Athletic Conference), who buried the Golden Hurricane (14-15, 8-9) and clinched at least a share of the AAC title.

No. 18 Cincinnati 65, Houston 47 — At Cincinnati, Gary Clark scored 14 points for the Bearcats (26-4, 15-2 AAC), who held the Cougars (20-9, 11-6) to season-low point totals for a half (20) and game in their 26th straight home victory.
