First-round results of the Western Athletic Conference women’s basketball tournament Wednesday at Orleans Arena:

■ Missouri-Kansas City 77, UT Rio Grande Valley 69 — Kristen Moore scored 19 points as the fifth-seeded Kangaroos rallied from an 18-point second-quarter deficit to defeat the No. 4 Vaqueros.

■ Seattle University 78, Chicago State 60 — Alexis Montgomery led the second-seeded Redhawks with 11 points and a career-high 18 rebounds for her third double-double this season.

■ Utah Valley 59, CSU Bakersfiel­d 53 (OT) — Mariah Seals scored 22 points and Sam Lubcke 19 to spark the Wolverines past the third-seeded Roadrunner­s. Weatherspo­on scored 19 points for the Bulldogs (16-15), who dealt the Tigers (10-21) their 17th loss in their final 18 games, prompting the reported ouster of fifth-year coach Johnny Jones.

■ Missouri 86, Auburn 83 — At Nashville, Tenn., Kevin Puryear hit a 3-pointer just before the final buzzer for Missouri (8-23), which overcame a 10-point deficit in the final five minutes of regulation to upend Auburn (18-14). SOUTHLAND

■ Sam Houston State 77, Central Arkansas 69 — At Katy, Texas, John Dewey III scored six of his 15 points in the final two minutes to help the Bearkats (20-12) hand the Bears (824) their sixth straight loss.

■ Lamar 77, Southeaste­rn Louisiana 65 — At Katy, Texas, Nick Garth scored 17 points for the Cardinals (19-13), who scored their final 11 points on free throws in topping the Lions (16-16). SUN BELT

■ Louisiana-Lafayette 78, Arkansas-Little Rock 71 — At New Orleans, Jay Wright scored 24 points for the Ragin’ Cajuns (21-11), who overcame an eight-minute field-goal drought in the second half to oust the defending tournament champion Trojans (15-17).

■ Coastal Carolina 80, South Alabama 67 — At New Orleans, Elijah Wilson scored 16 points for the Chanticlee­rs (16-16), who made their first league tournament appearance a success by handling the Jaguars (14-18).

■ Louisiana-Monroe 73, Arkansas State 70, OT — At New Orleans, Nick Coppola scored 14 of his 15 points after the first half to help the Warhawks (8-24) surprise the Red Wolves (20-12).

■ Troy 84, Appalachia­n State 64 — At New Orleans, Wesly Person scored 29 points for the Trojans (19-14), who shot 57 percent in dominating the Mountainee­rs (9-21).
