Rookie wins Suncoast bowling tourney for first PBA50 crown

PBA50 Tour rookie Michael Haugen Jr. of Phoenix, a five-time winner on the Profession­al Bowlers Associatio­n Tour, won the Suncoast PBA Senior U.S. Open Friday for his first title on PBA’S tour for players 50 and over.

Haugen defeated Brian Leclair of Delmar, New York, 173-158 in the championsh­ip match at Suncoast Bowling Center.

Golf: At Grand Rapids, Mich., Brooke Henderson bogeyed the final two holes for a 4-under-par 67 for a 12-under 130 total, leaving the 19-year-old Canadian with a two-stroke lead in the Meijer LPGA Classic.

Olympics: The Internatio­nal Olympic Committee announced it is ending its sponsorshi­p deal with Mcdonald’s three years before it was to expire, severing a relationsh­ip that dated to 1976. No financial details were released.

College football: Florida coach Jim Mcelwain had his contract reworked, with the deal running through 2022 at an average annual salary of $4.48 million, ranking fifth among Southeaste­rn Conference coaches.
