■ Royals 4, Red Sox 2 — At Kansas City, Mo., Whit Merrifield drove in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning, Eric Hosmer hit a two-run homer and Kansas City won for the eighth time in nine games. Kelvin Herrera worked around Andrew Benintendi’s triple in the ninth for his 16th save.

■ Astros 4, Athletics 1 — At Oakland, Calif., George Springer hit his 20th home run, Jake Marisnick and Derek Fisher also went deep and Houston won its seventh straight game at the Coliseum. The Astros improved to a major league-best 24-8 on the road.

■ Indians 12, Orioles 0 — At Baltimore, Corey Kluber (6-2) pitched a three-hitter for his fifth career shutout, Jason Kipnis and Carlos Santana homered and Cleveland earned its season-high sixth straight victory. Santana and Austin Jackson had three RBIS apiece.

■ Mariners 6, Tigers 2 — At Seattle, Mike Zunino continued his torrid month with a pair of two-run home runs, helping Seattle hand Detroit its third straight loss. The Mariners used a trio of homers to win at the beginning of a stretch with 16 of 19 games at home.

■ Blue Jays 7, Rangers 6 — At Arlington, Texas, Kendrys Morales hit a go-ahead single after a tying single by Josh Donaldson in the ninth inning, and Toronto won a matchup of AL Division Series opponents the past two seasons.

■ Braves 9, Giants 0 — At Atlanta, R.A. Dickey (5-5) threw seven scoreless innings, Matt Adams hit another homer and Atlanta sent San Francisco to its seventh straight loss. Dickey surrendere­d just three hits and retired 16 of the last 17 hitters he faced.

■ Pirates 8, Brewers 1 — At Milwaukee, Andrew Mccutchen hit a two-run homer, Gerrit Cole (5-6) pitched seven strong innings and Pittsburgh won the opener of a four-game series. Cole held Milwaukee to one run and three hits while striking out five.
