■ Angels 8, Yankees 3 — At New York, Cameron Maybin hit a tiebreakin­g home run off struggling reliever Tyler Clippard to spark a three-run seventh inning, and Los Angeles extended New York’s losing streak to seven games — their longest in a single season since April 2007.

■ Red Sox 8, Royals 3 — At Kansas City, Mo., Chris Sale (9-3) shut down Kansas City while pitching into the ninth inning, and a rag-tag bunch of Boston players filling in for injured starters moved the Red Sox into first place in the AL East.

■ Twins 9, White Sox 7 — At Minneapoli­s, Miguel Sano and Kennys Vargas each hit a long home run to help Minnesota bounce back from a demoralizi­ng sweep. Sano hit his 17th homer and the Twins overcame a rough outing from Ervin Santana (9-4).

■ Astros 8, Athletics 4 — At Oakland, Calif., George Springer hit a leadoff homer to spark a five-run first inning and Houston picked up its eighth straight win at the Coliseum and 13th in the last 14 meetings with Oakland overall.

■ Rangers 6, Blue Jays 1 — At Arlington, Texas, Carlos Gomez homered in a four-run first inning, Nick Martinez (2-3) allowed two hits while taking a shutout into the seventh and Texas (35-35) got back to .500.

■ Mariners 5, Tigers 4, 10 innings — At Seattle, Kyle Seager hit an RBI single with no outs off Justin Wilson (3-3) in the bottom of the 10th inning to score Tyler Smith and Seattle won its third straight. won its sixth straight. Carlos Gonzalez homered for the Rockies and saved a run with a diving catch in the fifth.

■ Giants 6, Braves 3 — At Atlanta, Austin Slater hit a three-run homer after the Braves botched a potential double-play grounder, sparking San Francisco to a win that snapped a seven-game losing streak. Matt Moore (3-7) earned his first win in over a month.

■ Pirates 7, Brewers 3 — At Milwaukee, Chad Kuhl (2-6) got his first victory since April, Andrew Mccutchen homered for the fifth time in seven games and Pittsburgh won for the third time in four games. The Pirates scored six runs in the first inning.

■ Cubs 4, Padres 0 — At Chicago, Anthony Rizzo hit another leadoff home run to help Mike Montgomery (1-3) get his first win of the season. Rizzo has hit three home runs leading off in seven games since being moved to the top of the order.

■ Cardinals 8, Phillies 1, 11 innings — At Philadelph­ia, Yadier Molina and Tommy Pham both homered in a seven-run 11th inning, St. Louis’ biggest output of the season in an inning, to help the Cardinals win.
