Jones, former linebacker, dies at 26 in Reno shooting

Former NFL linebacker Ryan Jones was shot dead over the weekend in a Reno apartment, and two other people suffered non-life-threatenin­g gunshot wounds, Nevada authoritie­s said.

Reno Police Department spokesman Tim Broadway declined comment on the circumstan­ces that led to Sunday’s shooting because detectives still were investigat­ing.

Jones, 26, signed with the Baltimore Ravens as a free agent in 2014 and had a stint with the New York Giants before becoming a mixed martial arts fighter.

Jones graduated from Hug High School before attending Sierra College and then Montana Tech in 2011.
